FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Astana 2022 kicked off today in Kazakhstan. The first round finished with two decisive games with Aleksandra Goryachkina and Elisabeth Paehtz taking the early lead in the event.

GM Zhansaya Abdumalik met in the first round with her compatriot IM Bibisara Assaubayeva. The game finished in a draw even as Assaubayeva had compensation for material disadvantage.
