The International Chess Federation FIDE banned yesterday Sergey Karjakin from all its events. As Karjakin decided not to appeal, this means he will not be able to participate in Candidates Chess 2022. (See who can substitute Karjakin in the Candidates here).
Karjakin attended a pro-Putin rally organised by Sima-Land, the corporate sponsors of the 2020 Candidates Tournament, with his second Denis Khismatullin. Khismatullin stated, “our cause is just, we will win together”.
