The Mongolian Women’s Championship 2023 is taking place from 20–30 May 2023 in Khovd. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 12-player round-robin tournament with participation of Batsaikhan Enkhsaran, Enkhrii Enkh-Amgalan, Boldbaatar Altantuya, Khishigbaatar Bayasgalan, Enkhbolor Nyamdavaa, Erdenebayar Khuslen, Bat-Erdene Mungunzul, Bayanmunkh Amin-Erdene, Margadgua Erdenebayar, Oyumaa Myagmardorj, Bayarjargal Bayarmaa and Enkhsaikhan Udval.

Chess Olympiad 2022 – Best individual players per boards (women’s section)

Altogether with the Winners and medalists of the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022, the best individual players per boards will receive special prizes and medals. The best Board 1 player of the Women’s section according to the rating performance is legendary Swedish GM Pia Cramling with 9.5/11 points and 2532 rating performance. GM Nino Batsiashvili was the best player of the second board with 7.5/10 points and performance of 2504. WIM Oliwia Kiolbasa won the gold medal as the best player of the third board with 9.5/11 points and 2565 rating performance. WCM Bat-Erdene Mungunzul was the best fourth board with performance of 2460 and 8.5/11 points. WGM Jana Schneider was the best individual reserve player (5th board) with 9/10 points and a performance of 2414. Mongolia crowns National Chess Champions and announces Teams for 44th Chess Olympiad 2022

The Mongolian Open and Women’s Championships 2022 took place from May 12-23, 2022, in Chinggis, Khentii. Both events were played as 12-player round-robin tournaments with classical time control.

The second-rated participant in the Open section, 18-year-old grandmaster Dambasuren Batsuren won the event as the only unbeaten player of the event, scoring 8.5/11 points. Dambasuren turned in a commanding performance and claimed his maiden title at the fourth attempt.

FM Ganzorig Amartuvshin and GM Bayarsaikhan Gundavaa finished a full point behind and tied for second place, with the former taking silver thanks to a greater number of victories. Kudos to one of the lowest-rated participants, Ganzorig, who significantly improved his rating picking up 60 points. (scroll down for the full text and final standings)

The Winners of Mongolian Open Chess Championship 2022

WGM Altan-Ulzii Enkhtuul dominated the women’s event, despite losing her second-round game against WIM Turmunkh Munkhzul. After this hiccup, Altan-Ulzii notched up seven straight victories and clinched the title with a round to spare.

WIM Bayarjargal Bayarmaa stayed in the race for the most part but lost two games (including one against the champion) and came off second best. Turmunkh Munkhzul inflicted the only defeat on the champion and tied for third with Bat-Erdene Mungunzul but won bronze by dint of a better Sonneborn-Berger.
