Fabiano Caruana: The disrespect just reached its peak. Sam decapitated Hans’ king #TweetOftheDay

19-year-old Hans Niemann defeated Samuel Sevian in the 12th round of the US Chess Championship. Altogether with the exciting game, the audience could have seen an interesting unusual situation. Samuel Sevian accidentally decapitated Niemann’s king, picked it up from the board in the middle of the game, and tried to fix it. The 19-year-old protested and asked for his King back. In the post-game interview, Niemann explained that Sevian wanted to glue the piece. Fabiano Caruana, who earlier nicknamed the 2022 US Chess Championship “The 2022 Disrespect Championship“, commented on the incident saying that the disrespect just reached its peak. “The disrespect just reached its peak. Sam decapitated Hans’ king“, wrote Caruana on his twitter account.
