Alexandra Kosteniuk: I was very worried about my position (VIDEO)

The Women’s Candidates Pool B tournament commenced today in Khiva, Uzbekistan after yesterday’s official opening. The event features four players Aleksandra GoryachkinaAlexandra Kosteniuk, Kateryna Lagno and Tan Zhongyi fighting in a knock-out system for a place in the Women’s Candidates finals against Lei Tingjie

Both games on the Day 1 finished in draws (Day 1 report can be found here) but it looked that both games could have finished with decisive results. Alexandra Kosteniuk had a suspicious position having White pieces against Aleksandra Goryachkina. In the post-game interview, Kosteniuk explained that she was worried about the position she had in the game: “At some point, I started doing something wrong and I was very worried about my position. But I was lucky in time-trouble, being able to exchange everything“. See the complete interview below
