GM Gabriel Sargissian speaks about the atmosphere in the Armenian team

The Armenian team defeated Azerbaijan in the 10th round of the 2022 Chess Olympiad, emerging on the top of the rankings in the co-lead with Uzbekistan. (Rankings after Round 10) Answering the question about the team’s secret for success, Sargissian said he is not sure if there is any: “Actually, this is a surprise not only for all the chess world, but also for us. We are playing without Levon Aronian, and somehow we won all important games. We never expected this, and for us, this already a very good result. (…) We are all very good friends, and maybe this gives us an advantage. Maybe there are some teams that don’t have a good atmosphere” concluded Sargissian. See the complete interview below
