Türkiye affected by accommodation problems at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest

After Monaco, Scotland, and Germany, now Türkiye joins the list of federations with accommodation problems at the Chess Olympiad 2024. In a message to Chessdom, Fatma Koç from the Turkish Chess Federation informed that accommodation problems persists.

Starting August 16th, Fatma Koç wrote on her Twitter/X account, “The accommodation team stated that there was no room at the hotel and we had to separate our delegation. They set the deadline as today (and gave info yesterday). We absolutely do not accept this and expect logical solutions asap. I’ve been waiting for information for 20 hours.” Two days later, in an answer to Andrew Barnett, she published an update, “Just now, instead of the responsible organizers, a travel agency that has nothing to do with the issue responded to my e-mail. As of August 31st, Fatma Koç informed Chessdom, “I had to remove two federation officials from the list of the hotel where our delegation is going to stay. I still haven’t been able to book them a room. Even though I asked for help by stating the hotel name (another hotel) many times, they did not get back to me. So I wrote directly to the hotel and requested a reservation. This issue is still not resolved…
