Chess Olympiad 2024 team of the day – Paraguay

Olympic spirit and smiles! This is how one would describe the Paraguay team delegation for the Chess Olympiad 2024 in Budapest. Seeded 57th in the open section and 65th in the women section, Paraguay national teams are already on their way to the Chess Olympiad. Before landing in Budapest, large part of the team will participate in the Open Sants 2024 , which boasts 700 participants.

The men team, captained by Andre Riquelme features Axel Bachmann, Neuris Delgado Ramirez, Jose Fernando Cubas, Antonio Almiron, and Mattias Latore. The average rating is 2444 ELO. That puts them close to continental rivals Uruguay (2435), Chile (2468), and Peru (2464), and behind Argentina (2547) and Brazil (2526).
