India wins Gaprindashvili cup at the 2022 Chess Olympiad

The Closing ceremony of the Chess Olympiad 2022 took place today afternoon in Chennai with awarding ceremony for the team Winners and medalists, best individual players, and grant of the Gaprindashvili cup for the federation with the combined supremacy of a team in both open and women’s sections.

With a total of 34 match points and best additional tiebreaks, India lifted the Gaprindashvili cup, named after Georgian legendary chess player Nona Gaprindashvili. India 1, USA and India 2 scored same 34 match points, but tiebreaks criteria favored India’s A team.
