The Chess Olympiad 2024 is going to take place in Budapest, Hungary from 10 to 23 September 2024. It is the world’s largest team event and will have a record breaking participation. Today the most important chess gathering of the year was officially opened in Budapest. (Unexpected: no live broadcast of the opening by the organizers)
The round pairings confirm the alarm about visa issues. A total of 20 teams in the open section and other 20 teams in the women section remain unpaired, all of them missing 2+ members of the team, and the majority missing the full team.
