Richard Rapport is now on his way to Madrid where he will participate in the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2022. He posted the traveling photo with famous Serbian grandmaster Ljubomir Ljubojevic, who successfully competed against World Champions Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, and Viswanathan Anand, but never succeeded in reaching the Candidates Tournament stage of the World Championship cycle.
Fabiano Caruana, Teimour Radjabov and Alireza Firouzja already arrived in the Spanish capital, in the middle of the heat wave. Ding Liren has just started his travel from China and is expected to be the last player to arrive for the Candidates Tournament, while Firouzja today inspected the playing venue, and Caruana took part in the opening press conference of the event.
